A Main Engine Has Been Developed for the Russian Corona Launch Vehicle - Roscosmos

Corona will not only deliver cargo into space, but will also be able to return it to Earth

Roscosmos has shared updates on the progress of the domestic reusable rocket Corona. It will be capable of launching into orbit up to 100 times, which will significantly reduce the cost of delivering various cargoes into space: equipment, satellites, spacecraft.

Corona is capable of both launching cargo into orbit and returning it back to Earth. It can be used as a transport vehicle for suborbital point-to-point flights of unlimited range.

NPO Energomash and other Roscosmos enterprises are working on the project: Keldysh Center, Central Research Institute of Machine Building, Agat, Kompozit, and a number of educational institutions.

According to the Roscosmos press service, the development of a main engine with a central body for the future Corona has already been successfully completed. Ahead is the development of a model engine design and its testing in the wind tunnel of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute.
