«Реальная мощь!»: Ростех сравнил росийский бронежилет «Оберег» с американским аналогом

Russian "Obereg" Body Armor Withstood a Bullet it Was Not Designed For

The "Obereg" body armor (Br5 protection class) produced by the Russian company "Octava" during Rostec's "Our Crash" test protected against an 8.6 × 70 mm Lapua Magnum rifle bullet, which it was not designed for.

At the same time, a captured American body armor of a similar protection class could not withstand a standard bullet from the so-called 7.62 × 39 mm intermediate cartridge fired from an AK.

According to Pavel Pavlenko, director of the company "Octava" (part of Rostec), the body armor of the same name consists of a substrate of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, followed by a ceramic plate, Kevlar and another additional layer. The latter layer helps to reduce the scattering of fragments, and also creates moisture insulation.

The weight of "Obereg" in full configuration is 11.5 kg. Now, specialists are working to reduce its weight to 10 kg. The market price of "Obereg" is 115 thousand rubles, while the American model that could not withstand a bullet from an AK costs over 200 thousand rubles.
