A 16 MW gas turbine engine for the oil and gas industry will be created in Tyumen

It will replace similar foreign engines

A powerful TM-16 gas turbine engine will be created at the Tyumenskiye Motorostroiteli plant in Tyumen to replace foreign units widely used in the oil and gas sector (at compressor stations for gas transportation). The engine's name encodes its power - it is 16 MW.

Today, the design documentation for TM-16 has been fully developed, and the prototyping process is underway. The assembly stage of the main prototype is planned for the beginning of 2024.

However, it will take more than one year from the creation of the prototype to the appearance of a serial model: commercial versions of TM-16 will appear only in 2026-2027.

The TM-16 will be another improved version of the Soviet GTD DG90 natural gas supercharger drive: by using new alloys and new profiling of the low and high pressure compressor blades, the efficiency will be increased to 35%. During subsequent modernizations, the efficiency will be increased to 40%.
