The head of Uralvagonzavod, Alexander Potapov, announced that the production of T-80 tanks may resume at the enterprise.
Such a task exists, at least the military has set it for us. And we are now actively interacting, working, and working out these issues with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, because this requires, accordingly, new capacities.
The T-80 tank is a development of the T-64A tank. The vehicle entered service in 1976, and its key difference from other tanks was a unified gas turbine power plant based on an aircraft engine, for which the tank was nicknamed the "flying" tank.
The most modern version of the vehicle is the T-80BVM. It is equipped with a GTD-1250 engine with a power of 1250 hp, a Relikt modular dynamic protection system, and anti-cumulative lattice screens. The T-80BVM starts at a temperature of -40 ℃ and accelerates in a straight line to 80 km/h.
