JSC "NII Stali" (part of the Kalashnikov Concern) has introduced the anti-fragmentation blanket "Aegis-U", which provides unsurpassed protection against F-1 and RGN grenades at distances of 3 and 5 meters. Full-scale tests of this reinforced blanket were successfully conducted at the TsNIITOCHMASH test site.
"Aegis-U" is an improved version of the "Aegis" anti-fragmentation blanket. It was developed and presented in mid-August, but it was already decided to modernize it. Despite its light weight, which has increased by only 2 kg compared to the regular "Aegis" blanket, "Aegis-U" has an anti-fragmentation resistance level of 650 m/s, which significantly exceeds the standard blanket with an indicator of 450 m/s.
It should be noted that in previous tests, the "Aegis" blanket had already shown impressive results, stopping more than 85% of the fragments of F-1 and RGN grenades, despite the initial velocity of the fragments reaching 700 m/s. Those fragments that did manage to break through the blanket could not cause harm, as they had lost their damaging power.
The "Aegis-U" and "Aegis" anti-fragmentation blankets are an ideal solution in situations requiring reliable and quick protection for both people and equipment.
Serial production of both "Aegis-U" and "Aegis" has already been launched by NII Stali.
