Stanislav Levitsky, director of the "Rosatom" division in Belarus, announced that the state corporation is negotiating the construction of a research reactor in the neighboring country.
Regarding the research reactor, an intergovernmental agreement is being worked out. The issue is complex and comprehensive. For the project to be implemented, it must be based on a clear feasibility study. I know that we will have several rounds of negotiations and contacts with the National Academy of Sciences [of Belarus] in the near future, with the involvement of other republican bodies, to develop a more or less final configuration of the reactor, in what form we will implement it.
The Belarusian-Russian intergovernmental agreement on a research nuclear reactor in Belarus may be signed before the end of this year. The installation will be located at the Joint Institute for Energy and Nuclear Research in Sosny near Minsk.
