World's First: Russian kicksharing service Whoosh tests electric scooter controlled by the power of thought

Neiry neurointerface connected to a computer, and the computer to a Whoosh Segway Ninebot scooter

Russian kicksharing service Whoosh has announced the successful completion of an experiment in which scooter control was tested using the power of thought. Whoosh was assisted in this by the Russian biotech laboratory Neiry.

The Neiry neurointerface is a device that records electroencephalogram readings of the human brain. The device looks like a regular headband.

It was connected to a computer using an API, and the computer to a Whoosh Segway Ninebot scooter. Neiry algorithms analyze the degree of concentration of a person, and the developers linked this indicator to the speed of the electric scooter.

How it works

As clearly shown in the video, the speed of the scooter increases when a person concentrates, and in a state when the concentration of attention decreases, the speed of the scooter decreases.

Thus, the developers managed to change the speed of the scooter "by the power of thought." This is the first such experiment in the world.
