The official premiere of the GAZ "Sobol NN" 4x4 minibus will take place in September. The current generation car is already in great demand in the oil and gas industry, among hunters, fishermen and simply lovers of car travel in Russia. But it will not have to rest on its laurels for long (due to the lack of alternatives): Sollers has promised to release an all-wheel drive version of its Atlant van in order to consolidate its existing success.
This was told to Motor.ru by Viktor Zornikov, Director of Technological Development and Industrialization at Sollers. The release of such a model is expected in the medium term, that is, approximately within a year or two. All-wheel drive will be connected rigidly, with four-wheel drive it will be possible to order options with single-slope rear tires. At the same time, Sollers is not going to increase ground clearance, reasonably pointing out that the current 20 cm of clearance is quite enough. But whether there will be a downshift is not yet reported.
But it is already known for sure that Atlant will receive a classic automatic transmission. Naturally, Chinese, but with roots going back to the reliable Japanese Aisin automatic transmissions – the same ones that are installed on Toyotas. The automatic transmission will have 6 gears.
