Deputy General Director of IAEA Mikhail Chudakov reported that a nuclear power plant with a capacity of up to 300 MW can be built in Myanmar using Russian technology.
"We discussed with them [representatives of Myanmar] the nuclear power plant project in Sochi at 'Atomexpo-2022'. Their power grids are small, they do not allow to put a large nuclear power industry. Since in accordance with the creation of infrastructure, nuclear power, as a large source of electricity, should be reserved and occupy no more than 10-20% of the power of existing networks, so a nuclear power plant of up to 300 MW can be built in Myanmar," said Mikhail Chudakov.
Earlier, the head of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev reported that Myanmar intends in 2023 to commen legally significant agreements with Rosatom to build nuclear power plants of various power at its territory.
