The Russian company NtechLab, specializing in face recognition systems, is working on AI to search for pets.
«NtechLab will launch a system for finding lost pets. The company has released the first version of the pet recognition system - cats and dogs - and is preparing to test it in several regions of Russia. Scenarios under discussion include a free Telegram bot, a mobile phone application and a website. It is assumed that people who have lost or found an animal will be able to upload its photo, and artificial intelligence will compare the pictures,» - said NtechLab representative Alexander Thomas.
«We are seeing fairly high accuracy in recognizing animals of certain breeds, if we have a good quality picture and a close-up of the animal's face. In the case of some pets, including black cats, the accuracy still needs to be improved - they are very similar for artificial intelligence,» - added Thomas.
In the future, the system can be trained to search for pets using city cameras.
