A source at RIA Novosti reported that the first batch of the newest 9mm 6P72 "Boa" pistols will be assembled by mid-June at the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant (Izhmash). Serial production of the weapon is subsequently planned to be established there.
The first batch of "Boas" is planned to be assembled at the Izhevsk facilities by June 15, after which they will undergo control tests. If, based on their results, the pistols confirm compliance with the stated technical characteristics, then their full-scale serial production and supply to the troops will begin at Izhmash
"Boa" is a new 9mm self-loading pistol that operates smoothly in a wide temperature range - from minus 50 to plus 70 degrees Celsius. The magazine capacity is 18 rounds - ten more than the Makarov pistol. All types of 9x21 mm caliber ammunition can be used for firing.
According to the developers, the "Boa" has technical advantages over its foreign competitors such as CZ, Glock, Walther and Colt.
