Starting June 1, the acceptance of applications for the issuance of biometric passports resumes, announced Irina Volk, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
«Starting June 1st of this year, the acceptance of applications for the issuance of a foreign passport with an electronic information carrier resumes», — she said. Irina Volk added that an application can be submitted through the local office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Multifunctional Center or via State Services.
Recall, the acceptance of applications for biometric passports was suspended on February 2nd of this year due to a shortage of microchips, which are embedded in the document form. Goznak then reported that 'Micron' - the manufacturer of microchips - needed to reconfigure the equipment.
