The Rostec subsidiary 'Precision Systems' announced the completion of the development of the anti-aircraft missile system 'Ptitselov' on the chassis of the BMD-4M combat vehicle.
Rostec noted that 'Ptitselov' is analogous to the 'Sosna' complex based on the BMP-3 (currently, 'Sosna' is undergoing tests). "A similar machine has been developed for the airborne troops based on the BMD-4M," the state corporation reported. Furthermore, the complex based on the BMD-4M has one important advantage: 'Ptitselov' can be air-dropped from military transport aircraft.
'Sosna' consists of two launchers for 12 'Sosna-R' missiles, capable of hitting air targets at a distance of up to ten kilometers and at a height of up to five kilometers.
