Dutch telecommunications holding Veon today announced that it has received a license from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury to conduct transactions for the sale of the Russian operator VimpelCom (operating under the Beeline brand).
"OFAC issued a license on April 15, 2023, authorizing the participation of U.S. persons in all transactions related to and necessary for the sale of VimpelCom," Veon said. The holding also noted that they have the necessary permits from the authorities of Great Britain and Bermuda. All this is necessary for the sale of the Russian subsidiary.
As a reminder, Veon announced the sale of VimpelCom in November 2022. The buyer is the current top management of Beeline, the transaction amount is estimated at 130 billion rubles.
