The head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, Alexander Kurenkov, announced China's intention to purchase two Il-76 planes from Russia with water dropping systems for firefighting.
"The Chinese side is interested in purchasing two Il-76 planes with water dropping systems", - said the Minister.
"Their main proposals to the Russian side are the training of crews to use water dropping systems. Russian practice is very interesting for colleagues in the fight against forest fires. This is very much in demand, not only in China but also in Turkey", - he added.
Il-76 has two modifications for firefighting: Il-76MDP, capable of carrying 42 tons of fire-fighting liquid, and Il-76P, capable of carrying 32 tons of fire-fighting liquid. Presumably, the more modern Il-76MDP will be delivered to China.
