«Мегафон» попал под санкции США

Mobile operator intends to challenge its inclusion in the U.S. Treasury Department's blacklist

The U.S. Treasury Department has updated its sanctions lists, adding new Russian companies, including the operator "MegaFon." The department has also set a deadline of July 11 for completing transactions with "MegaFon."

MegaFon stated that they consider the U.S. Treasury Department's decision unfair and illegal. "We are a commercial company providing services of high social importance to millions of customers. We intend to challenge these restrictions by all means available to us," MegaFon said.

At the same time, the U.S. Department of Commerce added 10 Russian legal entities to its blacklist, as well as a number of companies from China, Armenia, Syria, and Turkey. Among them is the "Promoelectronics" group of companies, which is one of the largest suppliers of electronic components in Russia.

The U.S. administration believes that the Chinese companies Allparts Trading, Avtex Semiconductor Limited, ETC Electronics Ltd, Maxtronic International, and STK Electronics, as well as the Russian "ETC Electronics" and LLC "West-Ost," "attempted to circumvent U.S. export controls" and acquire American products for the Russian defense industrial complex. And some companies from Spain, Syria, the UAE, and Malta "facilitated the shipment of Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles, specialists, and related equipment from Iran to Russia, which ultimately contributed to strengthening the Russian military and defense industrial base."
