Director Zhora Kryzhovnikov confirmed the work on the second season of "The Boy's Word. Blood on the Asphalt". While the release date is unknown, "The First Technical" recalls the car from the finale of the first season - the iconic black "kopeyka", in which the character nicknamed Adidas tried to leave with nurse Natasha from Kazan.

Had to take VAZ-2101

In the final series, Vova Adidas steals a black VAZ-2101 - an early representative of the "classics". This is indicated by the narrow chrome bumpers without overlays, compact mirrors and a characteristic radiator grille.

Such elements are typical for cars of the turn of the 1970s-1980s. The car looks authentic to the era - without later modifications, which enhances the feeling of time.

Not without bloopers

Black color for "kopeyka" is a great rarity. In the USSR, VAZ-2101 in black was practically not produced serially. Mostly it was the prerogative of "Volga" for officials.

On the car in the series, you can notice details that do not always correspond to 1989. For example, rectangular mirrors were installed, although the "clean" kopeyka should have a small, round and chrome mirror, mounted on the wing or door.

Engineering of simplicity

VAZ-2101 was developed on the basis of Fiat 124, but the design was seriously redesigned for Soviet realities. A reinforced body, increased suspension travel and adapted materials allowed the car to withstand bad roads and harsh climates.

Under the hood is an in-line "four" with a volume of 1.2 liters (≈64 hp) with an upper camshaft. For the beginning of the 1970s, this was a modern architecture, which provided better stability of operation and maintenance without complex tools.

Front disc brakes, rear-wheel drive and a carburetor system formed a simple and maintainable mechanics - a key factor in the mass character of the model.

Character on the road

Even by today's standards, the "kopeyka" is still relevant. Let the acceleration to 100 km/h take about 20 seconds, but the maximum speed is as much as 140 km/h!

But the main thing is the energy-intensive suspension and soft reactions to bumps. The car is not about dynamics, but about stability and control - qualities important for everyday use in a Soviet city.

Echoes of the era

VAZ-2101 became the foundation of the Soviet automotive industry - simple architecture, high maintainability and availability of parts made it a real "people's" car.

As a result, in the series it looks not like a random prop, but as a logical transport of the era, which became a desired dream for "even guys".
