Russia celebrates the 95th anniversary of the Airborne Forces (VDV) on August 2. Many products manufactured by the Kalashnikov concern have been tested by paratroopers.
Military personnel in blue berets and striped vests receive the 5.45 mm AK-12K shortened assault rifle. The weapon has improved technical, ergonomic, and operational characteristics.
The latest 5.45 mm RPL-20 light machine gun with belt feed has been refined based on recommendations from VDV assault troops. It is designed to engage enemy personnel, fire assets, and vehicles.
Alan Lushnikov, CEO of Kalashnikov, thanked the paratroopers for testing the concern's latest small arms developments at the training ground and in combat. He emphasized that this indicates the high quality of the weapons.
Specialists from JSC "TsNIITOCHMASH" (part of Kalashnikov) have developed the 120-mm Lotos self-propelled artillery gun for the VDV. The latest SAO surpasses the Nona-SM in firing range with high-explosive fragmentation shells by 1.5 times. The gun is currently undergoing state tests.
Paratroopers also use the Strela-10M anti-aircraft missile system (SAM). Kalashnikov manufactures 9M333 anti-aircraft guided missiles (SAM) for it.
Triada-TKO, a company within the concern, provides the "winged infantry" with VKPO 3.0 all-season field uniforms. VDV fighters are supplied with Strelets combat gear sets.
