Russia has significantly increased tank production. The "Omskmash" plant alone (part of UVZ) produces up to 30 combat vehicles per month. The total volume may be 3 times higher, according to Technology, citing sources.
The author of the publication noted that the plants for the production of heavy armored vehicles are located deep in the rear. They are inaccessible to potential UAV attacks.
The colossal volume of tank production is explained by their de-preservation and subsequent modernization. None of the recently supplied T-80BVMs are actually new.
T-80BVM is the most modern version of the T-80. The modernized tanks are equipped with a GTD-1250 gas turbine engine. Its power is 1250 hp. The combat vehicle is equipped with a 7.62-mm Kalashnikov machine gun, as well as a 125-mm 2A46M-4 smoothbore gun.
Characteristics of T-80BVM:
- speed — 80 km/h
- cruising range on the highway — 500 km
- length without gun — 7010 mm
- length with gun — 9560 mm
- height — 2220 mm
- weight — 46 t
