The legendary assault rifle was developed by Mikhail Kalashnikov in 1947. The weapon was used in many hot spots. The AK-47 is designed for a 7.62 mm cartridge, so the M16 should be compared with the AK-74 (5.45 mm caliber, a modernized version of the AK-47).
As journalists of Bulgarian Military emphasize, compared to the AK-47, the AK-74 has increased range, speed and accuracy of fire.
